MUSEWeb
The Medical Users Software Exchange (MUSE) is a not-for-profit communications network for MEDITECH users. While with Acro Media, I lead the development of Web applications for the MUSE Web site from 2001-2002.
Front-end
The front-end of the MUSE Web site consists of a secure members' area which allows authorized users to manage their account information and network with other users sharing their particular interests in the MEDITECH community. To promote and simplify exchanges between these users, I designed a bitfield-based member search application. Vendors can access this search application and download results in comma-separated-values (.csv) format for use in mailing lists and sales materials.
The MUSE front-end also features a branded software product I designed: a mailing list with listserv features. Using this application, users can subscribe to various unidirectional and bidirectional mailing lists, exchanging information where appropriate and receiving updates on MEDITECH development and seminars.
Back-end
The MUSE back-end allows the appropriate individuals on the Board of Directors to manage the organization and user memberships for the front-end of the Web site. Certain data fields are accessible exclusively through the back-end, allowing directors to keep notes for various members, while still permitting these members to manage their own contact information via the front-end.
