Fisher Space Pen
Fisher Space Pen manufactures the zero gravity pens that were originally developed for NASA. While with Acro Media, I was lead developer for Fisher's Web activities from 1999-2002.
Front-end
Fisher's front-end includes a custom catalog and shopping cart system. This system allows the client to select appropriate refills for various pens and purchase value-added services like engraving and gift wrapping. An order status application enables end users to check the anticipated shipping date for their orders.
Using a secure payment gateway, the Web application is able to determine whether the online customer has the available credit to complete his purchase. If the funds are available, the purchase amount is automatically pre-authorized on the customer's credit card.
Back-end
The back-end consists of a custom catalog management application which permits Fisher representatives to manage all aspects of the online catalog. An order management tool transfers funds to Fisher's merchant account once the order is ready for shipment. I also designed a custom reporting module for Fisher, which the company uses on a daily basis for accounting purposes. The reporting module generates bar graphs, allowing Fisher to view historical order data on a per-product, per-category, or geographical basis.
